Anne Hathaway is pleased with her decision to stop drinking and live a sober life.
According to the New York Times, the 41-year-old actress celebrated five years of sobriety, describing it as a “milestone” for herself and noting that “forty feels like a gift.”
The Princess Diaries actress had previously declared that she would not drink until her first child turned eighteen, but she has since altered her mind.
In the same interview, she hinted at a third film in the series.
During a January 2019 appearance on the now-defunct Ellen DeGeneres Show, she discussed how her desire to expand her family with her husband Adam Shulman pushed her to keep her clean status.
When Anne Hathaway remarked, “I’m going to stop drinking while my son’s living in my house,” she was expressing her wish to hold off on drinking until Jonathan, who would have turned three in two months, was eighteen.
“I don’t really love how I [drink], and he’s getting to the age where he needs me in the mornings all the time,” she continued.
Anne also talked about the specific action that she took one day that led to her decision to stop drinking.
I once made a school drive and dropped my son off at the school. She stated, “I wasn’t driving, but I was hungover, and that was enough for me.” “It wasn’t the one I loved.”
